    Bio

    Performer, Voice Teacher, and Choir Conductor

    As a professional musician, soloist, and private instructor, Arlene has taught locally in the Indiana, Johnstown, and Altoona areas and is a sought after instructor. She is a fierce advocate of developing voices and focusing on proper pedagogy and terminology while fostering a positive learning environment for each student.

     

    Arlene has taught for three years as the adjunct voice and choir professor at Saint Francis University and has instructed additional classes in Music Theory and Class Voice. She is the music director for the musicals at SFU and is actively involved with additional student productions. She is the Choir Director at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Altoona.

     

    Arlene studied extensively under voice teacher Dr. Joseph Baunoch at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. She graduated Summa Cum Laude in 2017 with her Bachelor of Fine Arts and later continued her education completing her Master of Arts in Voice Performance in 2019. During her time at IUP, Arlene performed across the state and northeast with the IUP Chorale. She competed and placed in several competitions including the National Association of Teachers of Singing in both 2017 (Classical- 2nd Place) and 2016 (Musical Theater-2nd Place) and was the recipient of the 2015 Renee Fleming Scholarship. Arlene has performed internationally in Italy with Operafest di Roma and in Austria and the Czech Republic with the IUP Chorale. She performed with the Johnstown Symphony Orchestra as a featured soloist and, most recently, with the IUP Choirs for Andrea Bocelli's 30th Anniversary Tour. Performance credits include The Barber of Seville (Rosina), Don Giovanni, Suor Angelica (Suor Zelatrice), Die Fledermaus (Ida), The Magic Flute (The Third Lady), and ​The Pajama Game (Shirley). Arlene has taught voice lessons privately for over seven years to all ages, and her students have performed in local productions, honor choirs, and competitions.
